Fourteen months after it was announced by Daseke Inc. as part of a company-wide operational plan, Hornady Transportation has announced it has completed a successful merger with Builder’s Transportation Company.
The merger was announced in August 2019 and went into effect Oct. 1, 2020.
Headquartered in Monroeville, Ala., Hornady has been in operation since 1925 with a familial legacy. The merger gives it a second terminal in Memphis and further diversifies its freight mix while strengthening its service of the building materials, steel, oil and gas industries with a fleet of 406 late-model tractors and 605 flatbed trailers.
BTC is a steel, aluminum and metal products carrier. Hornady’s terminal in Birmingham supports the building materials and steel industries east of the Rockies.
“The merger goes beyond numbers,” Hornady CEO Chris Hornady said in a news release announcing the completion of the merger. “We’re bringing together two innovative organizations who have a shared vision and trust in one another. We look forward to the positive changes to come and value our team members’ support in this transition.”
The added freight mix also has allowed for additional capacity and added staff in Monroeville, expanding drivers’ career opportunities with Hornady as it continues to prioritize individual customer needs. Drivers can enjoy updated equipment, collaborative teams and unmatched support while making an impact within their communities and beyond.
Daseke, the largest owner of flatbed, open-deck and specialty trucking capacity in North America, acquired Hornady in 2015 and Builders Transportation in 2018.
