TLD Logistics Services prides itself on being a good corporate neighbor and in times like these in Tennessee it has put that commitment in overdrive.
In the aftermath of the tornadoes that tore through Nashville and Middle Tennessee in the overnight hours Tuesday, the Knoxville-based carrier is rolling out a plan to bring relief to the impacted area.
Starting immediately, TLD is opening the doors in its Knoxville, Crossville and Lebanon terminals to accept donations to aid the stricken area. Donations to “Middle Tn Relief” will be accepted from TLD employees, drivers and the community at large who wish to help. The company also plans to purchase a variety of items to aid the effort.
Additionally, the carrier has partnered with Yassin’s Falafel House to transport the donations the Knoxville restaurant has collected for the impact area. TLD is looking to send its first truckload of supplies to Nashville Monday, sooner if the truck reaches capacity.
“We’re just trying to assist in any way we can with donations,” said Tristiny Bell, TLD’s marketing coordinator. “We’re looking to assist because we know a lot of people in Cookeville and Nashville got hit hard.”
At least two dozen deaths have been attributed to the tornadoes that roared across four counties and nearly that many remain missing.
While the region was devastated by the storm, TLD’s Lebanon facility is said to have escaped damage. Company officials are still working to determine if any of their personnel has been directly impacted.
All three TLD facilities accepting donations are located along the I-40 corridor. The Lebanon facility is at 901 E. Baddour Pkwy.; the Crossville facility is at 5172 Hwy. 127; and the Knoxville headquarters is at 1300 Everett Road.
