Among countless offers and incentives offered to drivers trying to buy their labor and loyalty, Koch brings something special to the table. From festive fits to monetary motivation, there is something for the likes of every driver.
Interested and qualified drivers can take a free plane ride to a three-day orientation. Greeted with $50 cash and a stay in an up-scale hotel, drivers feel welcome and ready for a new career. A late-model truck is waiting for them when they finish. Volvo VNL 860 trucks arrive weekly, and Kenworth 2021 models are on the way for this spring. And rest easy — all trucks have a brand new mattress.
Once set and ready to go, drivers can download the Koch mobile app via the App Store or Google Play. Within the app, drivers view current and future orders. This shows each stop’s details: the name and address of the company, trailer number, arrival and departure times, statuses, and miles. It also provides payroll information.
Also within the app, drivers can submit virtual trailer inspections. If something goes terribly wrong, 24/7 roadside assistance and temporary replacement trucks are available in case of emergency. Drivers can also notify Koch about damaged products with just a few taps.
Incentives
Bonuses and banquets are also a regular occurrence within the company. Annually, Koch holds a Driver Appreciation Banquet. “Our Driver Appreciation banquets are held each year for our drivers of the month,” said Ashley Castner, Director of Marketing and Advertising at Koch. “These drivers are nominated by their fleet managers, customers, etc., via the website, so basically anyone can nominate them.
“We have a driver of the month committee that votes on each driver after reading the nominations, and then we vote on a driver of the year before the banquet. Drivers may bring a family member with them and we provide a nice meal at the banquet along with paid travel and accommodations. Drivers receive recognition on our social platforms initially, and then a plaque and monetary award at the banquet.”
Besides the banquets, Koch offers all sorts of appreciation year-round. Specifically during this time of year, drivers can choose a wintery gift from the Holiday Store.
“It’s very popular with the drivers as the majority will order something and they love having options,” Castner said. “We do this every year.”
Driving divisions
Koch’s hiring areas range from Minnesota to Texas, over to the southeast, and back up to the midwestern states. Its new Super Regional fleet and pay package focuses on getting drivers home weekly by hiring out of major cities in that area. Koch’s specialized fleets that haul boats and recreational vehicles also offer new increased pay packages and it will train you on-site for the job after orientation.
Koch’s dedicated runs will get you home more often, but those positions fill up fast, so you will want to get in touch with a recruiter to see your options. If you’re wanting to rack up the miles, join the flatbed fleet that runs all over the country and often gets the most miles, but they are out 14-21 days at a time.
Whether it be a company driver, owner operator, or lease purchase working to be an owner operator, worthwhile benefits are available. No matter the position, Koch offers a $3,000 referral bonus to drivers who bring aboard additional drivers. Riders above the age of 12 and pets are always welcome on these fleets, as well.
