Job Summary:

We are looking for a CDL Class A Linehaul Driver. This job will primarily consist of Line Haul vehicle operations involving positioning and moving trucks and trailers on and between customer’s facilities and distribution centers delivering and picking up freight. Drivers work from Tuesday through Saturday schedule with no-touch freight for drivers, some are live load and unload deliveries.

Drivers and Dispatchers alike are required to closely monitor LHD’s hours of service. As per DOT regulation, a LHD may not exceed 70 on duty hours in any eight (8) consecutive-day period. If this limit is reached, and as per DOT requirements, a 34-hour reset period must be honored before another trip can be assigned. Generally, attempts will be made by the Dispatchers to have LHDs home for part of a weekend. However, due to trip variations, this cannot be guaranteed.

Pay: $0.60/mile

Job Description

  • Perform Pre-trip inspections.
  • Operate Company owned tractor-trailer trucks to facilitate transportation of freight
  • Perform required before-, during-, and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT, OSHA and company safety programs.
  • Maintain all property entrusted to the driver in excellent condition and protect it.
  • Report all accidents immediately.
  • Promptly report any delays to respective Dispatcher or Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL class A License
  • Safe driving record (MVR and previous employment).
  • Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and meet DOT medical requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Ability to safely drive various vehicles.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to make overnight runs as required by delivery needs.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ability to occasionally perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments, which have moderate impacts on the organization

Physical Demands:

  • Extended Periods of Sitting: Drivers are required to sit for long durations while operating vehicles.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and feet to operate vehicles, adjust controls, and manage equipment.
  • Heavy Lifting: Occasional lifting, carrying, and securing of cargo, which may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Navigation and Attention: Continuous focus on driving and navigation, requiring high levels of concentration and situational awareness.
  • Variable Work Hours: Potential for irregular hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and overnight trips.
  • Exposure to Weather: Work involves exposure to various weather conditions during loading and unloading operations.
  • Climbing and Balancing: Climbing into and out of the truck cab and trailer, as well as balancing to secure cargo.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
