Hirschbach Motor Lines wants its drivers to be “All In” and is taking its pay structure to the next level to incentivize them to be just that.
Since Aug. 10, new lease operators with the Dubuque, Iowa-based carrier have been eligible for the Top Tier Incentive Pay Play that includes weekly and monthly incentives and a long-term savings plan.
It’s designed for operators to earn $80,000 to $100,000-plus per year.
“For us, the big H stands for ‘home,’ and we want this to be the company that drivers want to be with until they retire,” Hirschbach CEO and president Brad Pinchuk said. “We are taking our pay to the next level. Our operators deserve it, so we are stepping it up with this revolutionary program.”
The incentive plan will earn lease operators an additional 10 cents/mile for all miles driven, for driving safely throughout the week. The monthly incentive will add additional 10-30 cents/mile for all miles over 4,000 if operators continue to drive safely and deliver their shipments on-time for the entire four-week period.
“Truck drivers have long been considered the guardians of the highway, and we want them to be rewarded for it,” Pinchuk said. “The safety and service incentive will enable safe and high performing drivers to add $1,000-$1,500 every four weeks.”
In addition to the mileage incentive, Hirschbach is introducing the All-In Retention & Rewards Program, a long-term saving plan that will invest in the operator’s future.
The carrier will contribute $1,500 in the account every year the operator is with the company. Operators can invest these funds into a variety of mutual funds and watch their investments grow through the company’s on-line portal.
“It is not just about making sure operators are getting more pay every week and every month,” Hirschbach’s Chief People Officer Jesse Burnette said. “We also want to make sure they have something to support them when they are ready to move to the next stage in life. The money Hirschbach puts in this account is theirs to manage and is a reward from us for excellent service.”
Founded in 1935, Hirschbach offers experienced, refrigerated truckload services to all 48 states with a fleet of more than 2,000 trucks and 3,500 trailers. Its equipment features the latest software, safety, aerodynamic and green technologies and with its Fuel Price Protection Program, lease purchase operators are guaranteed never to pay more than 99 cents per gallon of fuel for the duration of their lease regardless of the pump price.
