Do you, and be good at what you do.
The latest Alabama Trucking Association Fleet Safety Contest affirms that Action Resources, Inc., is good at what it does.
The Birmingham-based company took first place and was the only winner in the hazardous materials category. Action Resources also received a safety improvement award.
"It's an honor for us to receive awards like this," Action Resources senior director of safety Carl Rochford said. "They are great benchmarking tools that shows the culture, associates and processes we have are making a difference to avoid human suffering for our drivers and the motorist we share the roads with every day.
"This is the greatest award any company can receive."
The Alabama Trucking Association Safety & Maintenance Management Council (SMMC) hosted its annual Fleet Safety Awards Banquet in Pelham on March 31. The awards are designed to honor the most exceptional individuals and trucking operations that prioritize safety.
“Recognizing outstanding drivers and companies encourages others to strive for the same level of excellence,” ATA vice president of safety and compliance Tim Frazier said in the ATA’s awards announcement. “These awards are a valuable opportunity for the trucking industry to come together, share best practices, and celebrate the best of the best our industry has to offer. This helps to ensure that drivers and companies are operating safely and efficiently, which has a greater effect on the industry as a whole in terms of industry professionalism and public relations.”
An independent panel composed of officers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Motor Carrier Safety Unit judges all applicants. Awards covered 24 categories plus safety improvement awards.
Action Resources, a Hiremaster client, does hazmat. The company’s mission statement greets visitors to its home page: “Action is a growth-oriented, leading provider of specialized transportation and environmental services. These services include specialty chemicals, hazardous waste, freight brokerage, industrial cleaning, and a broad range of environmental remediation services.”
Most of the SMMC categories have first-, second- and third-place winners. Action was the only winner in the hazardous materials category.
Action is also one of 31 companies recognized for improving their safety ratings for the contest year 2022.
"It's a direct reflection of the buy-in of our company's safety culture, driven by our drivers, operations and all support teams that make winning an award like this possible," Rochford said.
