TMC Transportation has long been a leader in the flatbed trucking industry and now it’s expanding its reach in the hospitality business, in effect as a perk for their drivers but also for the motoring public as well.
Given the success of the initial venture on its headquarters campus in Iowa, TMC has acquired a second property, a 63-room hotel to accommodate drivers in Columbia, S.C.
Located within five miles of the company’s driver training center there, the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham will provide a convenient lodging solution for students while providing the same comfort and service they are accustomed to at the company’s Baymont Inn & Suites location at their Des Moines headquarters.
Both hotels offer rooms to the public as well. The Columbia location, staffed by TMC employees, will offer free rooms for drivers who are attending orientation and training.
The facility, on Garners Ferry Road just off I-77, is scheduled to open Dec. 12 following a renovation and inclusion of TMC branding.
“This is a great opportunity for the company, its employees, and our student training program,” Todd Bordenaro, TMC’s general manager of hospitality, said. “We are excited for the challenge that it brings with the goal of becoming another Best of the Best Wyndham Brand Hotels for the Columbia, South Carolina, community.”
