As our nation’s military veterans seek to move into civilian jobs after their service, they often find the transition a difficult one. Many of the skills learned and values practiced while in the military are especially beneficial to businesses and the companies that bring them on board are honored to work with these outstanding service men and women.
With 36 percent of its employees being veterans, TMC has long recognized the exceptional advantage of hiring veterans. And it continues to be recognized for that appreciation.
Earlier this week the Des Moines, Iowa-based carrier received a 2022 Top Ten Military Friendly designation in the transportation sector by Viqtory Media. It was one of 20 companies in the trucking and transportation sector so recognized, including several that are HireMaster clients. TMC has been selected each year since 2017 for this recognition.
Additionally, the company was recognized as a Military Spouse Friendly Employee and for Military Friendly Supplier Diversity and Military Friendly Brands.
Companies are identified as being friendly to the military community by standardized criteria by a Military Friendly Advisory Council. The commitment of the company to offer sustainable opportunities to veterans is measured by qualities that include culture, commitment, and career advancement for veterans.
Among the supportive action TMC takes to employee veterans is the option to enroll in an Apprenticeship program that is approved for the GI Bill.
“While the transition from military to civilian is a lot more difficult than I anticipated, TMC has looked out for me every step of the way,” TMC driver Antonio Quijano said.
