EAGAN, Minn. – Bay & Bay Transportation has been aggressively raising its pay package for its over-the-road professionals and last week made another big move for its independent contractors.
Effective immediately, the company will offer its independent contractors a pay increase of 20 cents per mile, providing them a base pay of $1.25 up to $1.70 on loaded miles and $1.10 on empty miles.
Contractors will continue to receive industry top fuel surcharge rates on loaded miles in addition to their pay, as well as fuel discounts at preferred providers.
“Bay and Bay is committed to providing its drivers with exceptional career opportunities,” Bay & Bay CEO Sam Anderson said. “We have top pay, modern equipment, and great customer freight. We currently have a variety of OTR, regional and dedicated routes available. We know that this diversity makes us a solid choice when a driver is looking to find a home.”
Independent contractor positions with Bay & Bay provide drivers with the opportunity to build their own business and achieve the industry’s highest profits. Drivers can take advantage of Bay and Bay Transportation’s $0 down, sign and drive policies.
Drivers interested in leasing with the company have 2020, 2021 and 2022 Freightliner Cascadias and Kenworth T680s to choose from, many with remaining manufacturer bumper to bumper warranties.
“Our 2022 tractors have been coming in and we look forward to expanding what we have to offer contractors joining our program,” said Todd Outcelt, Bay & Bay’s Safety Director and Lease Purchase Manager.
Celebrating its 80th year in the industry in 2021, Bay & Bay is known for its family culture and high level of safety. Last fall, the company was named the safest fleet among carriers doing 25-49.99 million miles by the Truckload Carriers Association.
Its website reports since the company's founding Bay & Bay has delivered nearly 30 million tons of freight in more than 1.5 million loads over nearly 706 million miles.
“Our safety culture has led us to achieving this great milestone,” Anderson said. “It takes people, process, workflow and technology. Above all, it’s about believing in our mission and the value of safety … Safety is a way of life for every employee in the company.”
