From Healthy Trucking of America
Commercial truck drivers are the lifeblood of America’s supply chain. To borrow a famous saying: When you sneeze, the United States gets a cold.
With the transportation industry under so much pressure right now, no one can afford to be out sick with COVID. Some people who get COVID can have symptoms that last for weeks or months – not the kind of long haulers we like to see. Nor do we want to see any of you land in the hospital, or worse.
The good news is, updated COVID vaccines are now available to help protect you from the highly contagious Omicron variant, which is causing most new COVID infections.
If you’re at least 12 years old and completed your primary COVID vaccination series, you can get an updated COVID vaccine.
It’s especially important to get an updated vaccine if you’re 50 or older or if you have certain underlying medical conditions, such as diabetes, because you’re at increased risk for severe illness from COVID.
No matter which COVID vaccine you got for your primary vaccination series (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Novavax or Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen) or how many boosters you’ve already gotten, you can get an updated COVID vaccine if it’s been at least two months since your last dose.
If you recently had COVID, you should wait three months from when you got sick to get your updated vaccine.
The COVID vaccines available in the United States, including the updated vaccines, meet the Food and Drug Administration’s and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s very high safety standards. Hundreds of millions of people in the United States have safely received COVID vaccines under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history. The updated COVID vaccines are made using the same process as the COVID vaccines people have already received.
